Fundamentally this course is designed for paddlers and coaches irrespective of their chosen craft. This course provides you with the basic skills to rescue a swimmer and boats in various sheltered water situations. The FSRT is a pre-requisite for those who want to complete the Paddlesport Instructor course.
1 day / 8 hours Training and Assessment
This course is run in one day but we are more than happy to organise a course run over 2 days due to the amount of content to be covered. We do believe it is most beneficial to students to split over 2 days for greater learning and retention. However, we know time and money is limited but please speak to us if you are interested in a 2 day course.

You must be a competent swimmer and be confident on the water
The course aims to provide the student with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely in a sheltered water environment and to be able to deal with common emergencies. These skills will then form the basis of all safety and rescue training throughout the British Canoeing Scheme.
The course has two purposes:
1. To provide the paddler with the necessary skills which will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
2. To provide the paddler with the appropriate rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and/or others in difficulty.
1 day course £75 per person including all necessary equipment
Attendance Certificates are issued to successful candidates by British Canoeing following a recommendation from the course provider, subject to the following Certification fees:
- £5 for members

These are payable in cash on the day.
