The BCU 1 Star is a clear stepping-stone to becoming a paddler. Designed as a basic award, the 1 Star is the level people would typically reach after an introductory course.More Info
The aim of the 2 star test is to show that you have control over a canoe and kayak on sheltered water. We look at the skills needed to move your canoe/kayak around easily and gracefully, but more importantly we get you to be able to decide how to modify those skills depending on the weather and what you want the boat to do.More Info
The 3 Star paddler can consider themselves as an intermediate paddler rather than a beginner, the paddler can demonstrate personal competence as a member of a group paddling in a variety of venues. These venues include open water in conditions of winds up to force 3, and/or ungraded rivers that have a discernible green flow. After a period of consolidation after the training course we will encourage you to go for assessment.More Info
